Still waiting...

My LO was born in November, we filled for his SSN thru the hospital (Illinios Masonic), and I can't help but think that was a BAD idea.  I am still waiting for his ssn, and I want to file my taxes, but I can't.  Anyone else having this issue?

Here is what you do...find a social security office, they are all over the place,(look it up online and they will give you all the locations) and CALL and make an appointment.  If you just walk in then you will be waiting with 500 people, but if you have an appointment then you bypass everyone there.  They will give you the number and a temporary print out which you can use for tax purposes.  The hospital one can take up to 6 months to get, and like I said if you make an appointment you will be in and out in 15 mins.  Hope that helps.

When our little guy was born in September, I was told that Illinois takes 13 weeks.  12 weeks with IL and one week with SSA.  I think we got his number in early December.
