~~ZERO SPERM / AZOOSPERMIA CHECK IN~~
This is a place for any of you who are experiencing the world of azoospermia. Whether you were recently diagnosed and are trying to make sense of it all, or you have started preparing for IVF or IUI, or have decided instead to move on to adoption. Please join in the group by posting! Check in is on Thursdays.
Learning that the chances of having a biological child with your husband are slim to none is not easy, and is, frankly, devastating news. This check in is a place where we can share how we are coping (or not) with our new realities, provide information we've learned through investigating our options, adjusting our lifelong dreams and plans, and dealing with the situation.
I'd like to extend an invitation to those who have been fortunate enough to experience pregnancy, childbirth, and/or adoption. Ultimately, all of us desire to create a family. The experiences and insight of those who have reached that goal will be quite helpful to those of us on that road.

Re: ~~Zero Sperm/Azoospermia Check In~~
Hi, Ladies! Not much new here. Except I'm being treated for Gestational Diabetes.
Oh well. So far this pregnancy has been sooo easy (knock wood) so I really can't complain.
Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, It empties today of its strength. ~Corrie ten Boom
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow. ~Mary Anne Radmacher (thank you beadinglady)
It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

Let me start by saying I love our urologist. He takes care of our family very well. I told him out our insurance issues and for now everything is being coded as low testerone which isn't infertility related! woot
He examined DH (even his prostate, I had prepared him for everything BUT that, I didn't know that was a possibility. And didn't notice any blockages. :0)
He thinks our problem is most definitely a testerone issue. He wrote a script for another SA and took some blood. We will have some more answers soon.
Personally I think we are headed for DIUI. We can't afford IVF.
Our plan...Second SA and waiting on bloodwork results.
Superbowl Weekend! Do you have any plans to watch? Who's your picks?
We always watch for the commercials but we aren't pro football fans. If I had to pick...Colts
Hey, Worms - Thanks for the info on Erin&Mike! How exciting! I'll update for next week.
And everything's crossed for a good beta for you!
We're officially cycling...BCP started on 1/27...can't believe it! After always feeling like it was ages away, I can't believe that there is a possibility of me being pregnant in less than 5 weeks...it feels surreal and I am starting to freak out just a little bit!
We are going to a friend's Superbowl party which I'm excited for but I am ashamed to say I don't know the first thing about football...I don't even understand how the game works let alone know who is playing in the Superbowl! I WANT to understand it and like it butttt just hasn't happened yet!
Anyone else in the Northeast bracing for our big snowstorm this weekend?
DD (5 years old) from IUI in 2012
TTC 3rd and final!: IUI #1 in progress!
Worms- Good Luck, I'm praying for you!
Craschi- bummer about the GD
Update: Looks like we are headed to a June cycle but I am very anxious to get started and June seems so far away! H is healing nicely and should be cleared for sex in about a week or so.
QOTW: I will be watching, eating wings and pizza and cheering for the Saints!
Me: PCOS/Amenorrhea DH: Azoospermia due to Y Chromosome Micro Deletion IVF w/ ICSI on hold until further notice
Hope
theworms- GL tomorrow!!
craschi-sorry to hear about the GD
Superbowl Weekend! Do you have any plans to watch? Who's your picks? Well, DH and I are both Pats fans, but since they didn't make it the bowl we'll probably be routing for the Saints. Not a Colts fan, so it's the lesser of two evils :P
The time has finally come! DH's MFI Urologist appt. is Tuesday. After a month and a half of waiting, I CAN'T wait to find out what is going on.
This is why I need your help. Are there any questions that I should definitely ask while we are there? I know all Urologists are different, but after 2 SA with my doc, any ideas what they will do to DH? I am just worried that after we have waited so long for this, we're going to get in there and just tell our story one more time.
Thank you for your help ladies!
I'm a NE fan so I don't really care too much about the game. However, I can't really stand Peyton (sorry to say) so I think I'm going to have to pull for the Saints.
Crashi - Sorry about the GD, but I'm glad your pregnancy has been pretty easy so far. I hope things continue to go smoothly.
Worms - I can't wait to hear your good news tomorrow!! I've got fingers, toes, legs, etc crossed.
I am so excited for you ladies who are starting to cycle!! It is such a great feeling to move from waiting to actually "doing"!
Em and NHgal - GL with your follow up meetings!
Congrats to Erin&Mike!!!
QOTW - we'll probably watch the game but I honestly have no team pick at all. I'm going to use it as an excuse to blow my diet
Wow there is a lot going on around here.
Good Luck Worms! I can't wait to hear your beta news!!!
NHgal and Em Good Luck with your followup appts!
Craschi sorry about the GD :-(
Update: We are meeting with our old RE on Tuesday and then see the new RE (we met on 2/2) on Thursday to get the results of the AMH test. I'm nervous. We still haven't decided which clinic we are going with, but will probably end up with whoever our insurance will cover for IUIs, if we end up going with IVF at some point we will go with the doc/clinic we like best. DH and I have digested the info from Tuesdays appt and as long as my eggs are still good then we plan to move forward with the D-IUI as soon as my meds are out of my system, hopefully by late April.
QOTW: We don't normally watch the superbowl. I have a feeling we will either just veg out at home or go to my parents on Sunday. To be honest I don't even know who is playing in the superbowl.
Me - DX Hashimoto's Disease, Hypothyroid, Rheumatoid Arthritis
DH - DX Azoospermia - Sertoli Cell Syndrome
DS-IUI #1-4 BFN IVF #1 - BFP! It's a boy!!!
Worms GL tomorrow. I am pulling for you.
Crashi sorry about the GD. I hope this is the only hurdle!
Welcome to the newbies and good luck to those moving forward.
Craschi can you move us to cycling. We are in the middle of IUI#5.
QOTW: we are headed to our best friends for the game and will be joined with lots of friends. It should be fun. I plan on doing some eating. I love me some Manning but I hope the Saints pull the win for their sweetheart season.
Happy Friday everyone
Craschi, I am sorry about the GD, can they control it with diet?
Worms, I am praying praying for an excellent beta for you, best of luck!
Welcome to the newbies and to those cycling or having appointments I wish you all the best
QOTD: No, not watching, our team lost at the very end, boo! So close.
Hello all, I?m a little late on this but I have some updates. After 2 failed DIUIs we are moving onto IVF with DS, I?m on day 6 of Lupron. The reason is because we only have 1 vial left and our donor is retired. So we are giving it all we have! This will probably be our last shot at this because our insurance only covers 25K lifetime and this will use up the rest. I?m not sure what we will do if this doesn?t work?
Good morning all! I'm a little late in responding.
Update: Uro said the chemo could still be affecting sperm production so we have to wait 3 months for repeat SA. I really hope this is the case rather than azoospermia. Next step after that would be biopsy if there's still no sperm. DH had b/w done and estradiol and FSH levels were high (almost double the top or normal range). I'm hoping this is only due to the non sperm production.
QOTW: I'm a die hard Packer fan, so I really could care less who wins the Super Bowl. But I will be rooting for the Saints during the game. That team/town/state has been through a lot and it would be nice to see them win.
PAIFW/SAIFW
DS1 born July 2002 (previous marriage).
TTC since Oct 08. DH Dx w/testicular cancer March 09.

5/2 IVF #1 cancelled due to large follie.
6/14 start Lupron for IVF #1.2. 6/22 start stims.
7/4 ER and Biopsy.
7/9 Transferred 2 (1-4BB and 1-3BB) embryos. 4 frosties.
7/15 +HPT 6dp5dt. 7/18 Beta #1: 193. 7/20 Beta #2: 415.
8/10 1st u/s - It's triplets!
Good luck to everyone cycling.
NHGal - We just had our first urologist appt and it was pretty much a review of what brought us there, then additional bloodwork ordered along with an additional s/a ordered (even though we had two s/a's already as well). DH had a thorough physical and, like a pp said, a prostate exam. My advice on that, don't tell your H before you go! You'll never get him out the door
QOTD: GO COLTS!!
Thanks for welcoming me to the group!
Craschi-Sorry about the GD hope they can keep it under control and the rest of the preg. is smooth
Worms- Keeping my fingers crossed for a great number tomorrow!
Erin & Mike- Congrats on your new baby boy!
To everyone else good luck in all your testing and appts.
Update: Not too much new going on just highly stressed and anxious about what the biopsy will show. The surgery is scheduled for thurs 2/11. Uro finally called back and answered our questions. He said we'd have to wait a week for results to know if DH is producing sperm or not! So stressful since we were hoping it would be that day like others have told us on here. He told us he wouldn't be looking for the cause of azoo either just removing the tissue. We are praying for sperm so we can start seeing an RE! If there is no sperm DH doesn't want donor or adoption. So I'm not sure how to prepare myself to handle the news if it's bad!
QOTW: I'm not a big Football fan but DH is so I suggested he go spend time watching the game with his Dad this way I can rest for a little while since I have to work that night!
Update: We're on schedule for IVF in April/May. Lupron start date of 4/17, ER estimated at 5/9. It'll be right over our first-date-aversary... so hopefully that brings us luck.
QOTW - Meh on the superbowl. Hopefully we'll be able to go visit with some friends that day.
*extra big hugs* to worms and other recent BFNs. *more hugs*
*hugs* to the new members - I'm sorry you're joining us.
Ahhh! I am checking in late! Sorry!
As of right now we are trying to find a clinic/hospital that does the ultrasound DH needs. His hormone levels came back normal!
No exciting plans for superbowl here......DH doesn't watch sports!
