My peri appt is at the hospital about 2 miles away- am I allowed to drive there or do I have to have someone take me? I'll call the office tomorrow and ask too...
It depends on the terms of your bedrest and what medication you're on. I can't drive when I'm on Procardia, per my doctor. I'd call and ask your doctor.
TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer.
3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book.
IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d.
I am on modified bed rest and I am allowed to drive to my appts. I hadnt been driving since put on bed rest but when they told me I was going to have appts 3 x a week for different things I asked her if I could and she said yes to my appts then home!
I was put on bed rest and had a week where DH's work schedule got messed up and I had to drive myself. My OB yelled at me and said that no one understands that bed rest means no driving! Oops! I never made that mistake again. I would double check and call.
I was on bedrest but I was allowed to to up and down the stairs once a day and take a shower. I had to got to the hospital 2 times a week for NST and once for a weekly OB appt. They told me I could drive myself and I was taking Procardia.
But I saw from pp that they received different instructions. I would ask your Dr b/c maybe each case is different. (or my Dr was crazy ;-)
I always have someone drive me. There is a lot of walking from the garage to the building, up to the office, etc. Also, a couple of times I have needed to go in a wheelchair and so I need someone to push me.

Thats a good question. I have not driven since being put on bedrest, but I have a hair appt next week I will have to drive myself to. Hmmm I know I am allowed to go to the hair appt, but I didn't even think to ask about driving.

depends on the level of bedrest. definitely a good question for the peri or your ob. if you are actually in bed all day, then i would say no way. i always had my husband take me to appts, and drop me at the front of the building. you shouldn't have to walk from parking. also i found i would have many more racing heart episodes and bh cx during the small time i was allowed to drive while on modified br at 19-23wks.
