Parenting after a Loss

Cold hands?

Anyone elses LO have cold hands? She's warm enough, her head is warm and so is her body. Should I be concerned or do you think her body is still regulating itself?

Re: Cold hands?

  • I just asked my pedi this today because my LO ALWAYS has cold hands! She said it's normal - because they are extremities they feel cold (feet too apparently) but she said it doesn't mean they're cold. I kept the little mittens on LO for weeks thinking he had cold hands, but they don't stay on so well so I'm glad to know I don't have to worry about it.

  • Yup, Nicholas always has cold hands too. That's why I asked about his fingernails earlier today! I think it's normal.

  • Cold hands, warm heart...

Totally normal. Their little circulatory systems are still working out the kinks. Heck though, my hands are always cold even though the rest of me is warm enough. :)

  • almost always! Especially when he sleeps.... I used to drive myself crazy worrying he was cold. I have since learned that if you want to judge their body temperature, feel the back of their necks.
