an apple (peeled and sliced - they are sharing one, for now) and Cam has grapes with that.
I'm making raviolis (the frozen bagged ones -- mama something or other).
And I'm eating strawberries (with a tblsp of sugar on top) - and a banana.
I might have an apple as well.
Now just to add in some protein.
I'm still not optimistic but I feel good about this lunch!
Re: My kids are eating ....
Sounds good!
Would your kids drink a smoothie? I've started making them with dinner most nights for the kids (and I drink whatever they don't drink . Blueberries, banana, spinach, milk, yogurt and a bit of juice to sweeten it up a bit.
Then if they don't eat what I've made for dinner, they at least have something good in them
aww good for you!!!
B and I LOVE apple slices with Honey, gives it a nice sweet little kick.
Super cute sig pic Cleo!
I tried the smoothies the other night when we got home from shopping. I bought frozen fruit (it's a mix of peaches, pineapples, strawberries and peaches) and I made it with peach yogurt (their fave). They didn't like it. Cam drank about 1/2 of it, but then decided she didn't like it (I think b/c Joey didn't like it).
But I'm going to try it with spinach (do you just use loose leaf spinach?!??!) and see if I can convince them about the hulk thing!
You can get protein by adding skim milk to what you are already giving them. Then do a meat or bean protein for dinner and skip the starch/bread with dinner and do some veggies.
I crock pot whole chickens and shred them and freeze them, so I can pull out small quanities of meat to add to mostly veggie, bean, or pasta dishes. It is easier than having to cook a protein in small quanities everyday.
Good luck. It might also help to get some cooking mags like weight watchers, cooking light, or Rachel Ray so you get some ideas. You can internet them, but I like the pictures and it is cheaper to get a few subscriptions than buy a cook book.
Yes, just loose leaf spinach. I also raced DD last night i.e. who could drink their shake faster when she wouldn't drink it and it worked (although she has a pretty strong stomach; I could see how that could end badly for the wrong kid . That's all she had for dinner and I'm okay with that because it's pretty good for her.
Somebody posted a shake with peanut butter and garbanzo beans and some other stuff the other night. I will have to find it and try that...sounds um, interesting but you never know what these kids will like.
Sounds good to me.
Are they Mama Rosies's? If so, for frozen ravioli those are my favorite.
A lot of people are mentioning spinach. Do you know if they will eat spinach? If they have never tried it, maybe you could make a spinach pie (with feta cheese, eggs, onions, etc.). It sounds wierd but this is one of Preston's favorite dinners.
