Kramer OB/GYN Associates - long

This practice came highly recommended to me.  So far so good really but a few things have been bothering me.  Dr. Hale has been great, I haven't met the other two Drs. yet.  The office staff besides Kim seems, well lacking.  My first missed miscarriage they sent me in for blood work to one of the labs and when I got to the lab they had no paperwork.  It was 7AM so the Dr. office was not open for the lab to confirm.  I was going out of town the next day so I had to go back later in the day after calling the Dr. office multiple times to confirm they have sent the paperwork.  I let it slide as no one is perfect and it was a minor inconvenience.  However I never got an apology, just attitude.

I went last week for my normal 8 week appointment to find out that I most likely am having another missed miscarriage. Again Dr. Hale has been great.  The nurse had to take 10 viles of blood, but could only get 7 viles after bruising both arms pretty bad.  They made a follow up appointment for an u/s today.  As I pull into the parking lot they call me and tell me the u/s tech called in sick...bummer ok but I understand how that goes just getting over the stomach virus.  So now I go back later today to the hospital.  When I was on the phone with the receptionist I ask her about the results for the 7 viles of blood and she has NO CLUE about that.  Nothing in the system, blah, blah, blah.  She said she would get back to me.

I could really go on, but I won't.

I'm really tempted to find another OB office, but I hesitate because my experience with Dr. Hale has been great, but the office staff has been awful that I hate calling.

Anyone have any experience with Kramer OB/GYN?  I'm wondering if I should give them another try or if there are others out there with a similar experience?  Maybe I should tell the Dr. my complaints?

Thanks for listening to my venting.

  • No experience with them, but I would let the doctor know your complaints first.  And let him know that it is enough to make you not want to call, and to consider switching.

Often times the Dr's have no clue about their staff because they don't see the patient interaction.  If the Dr blows off your concerns, then I'd seek another Dr.

  • I agree that you should talk to the doctor - let him know everything that has been going on. It sucks that you have been having such a difficult time with them. You should definitely feel comfortable with everyone there, not just the doctor.

If it doesn't work out there and you want to stay in Concord, I go to Concord OBGYN and am really happy there so far. There has only been one mishap that happened, but it was actually Emerson at fault (they misplaced some of my blood for the tay sachs test!?!?) and Concord OB was very apologetic and handled the situation well. I have seen two of the doctors there so far and liked them both a lot.

  • I go there as well and love Dr. Sinopoli.  Haven't gotten to meet Dr. Hale yet.  Dr. Kramer is another story - very opinionated, know-it-all, borderline unprofessional.  To think that she is the head of this practice is a little scary.  I actually really like the receptionist and nurses there which is one of the reasons I am staying with them but I am praying that I don't get Dr. Kramer for my delivery.  I have had to keep track of what needs to be done as far as testing goes and for my gd screening they completely forgot to schedule me but any issues that I have had they have been quick to respond.

No matter what anyone else thinks you should go with your gut.  If you don't feel like you are being well cared for then you should absolutely look for a new doctor.

  • I had Dr. Kramer in 03 when I miscarried. She was awful. No bedside manner AT ALL. she brought me in her office and was like you are most like miscarring, just go back to work and call me when you start miscarring. I was like can you write me a note telling them I cant work and she was like no there is no need for it. I talked to my boss who of course let me go home and It was awful and painful. I was screaming it hurt so bad and I called and she basically was like its suppose to hurt and couldnt understand why I was calling.
  • Wow - so sorry to hear about everyone's miscarriage experiences. I'm a patient at Kramer OB-GYN, Dr. Kramer is technically my OB but Dr. Hale delivered my 1st baby last August. He is *AWESOME* and so is Dr. Sinopoli.  I was on bed rest for months, had a difficult pregnancy and he was great.  My birth experience was great, I got the natural birth I was hoping for and the L&D nurses at Emerson were great.

Quite honestly I would call Dr. Hale and tell him about the issues you had with the office staff and see what he says - I have to believe he'd listen to you and get your issues resolved as much as possible.

Interesting comments about Dr. Kramer, they sort of confirm how I was feeling about her anyway.  Really glad she didn't deliver my baby. Some of the comments she made to me during my pregnancy set me on edge.

Good luck and stay with Dr. Hale / Dr. Sinopoli if you can!
