Re: true or old wives tale?

  • if your body is not ready, nothing will work...trust me...lol...i was induced at 41 weeks 2 days...and came in a fingertip dilated...and tried everything but castor oil before hand..lol

  • I guess you can try it but I wouldn't want to waste the colustrum.

  • I've heard it takes an hour or so 3-5 times a day... if you've got the time to try it, go fro it, but it's not a sure thing...

  • How bout this--it will do something if your body is already ready to do something.

If you're not, it won't do anything at all.

(Personally, I figure it can't hurt to try, and I'm planning on breaking out the pump, the wild sex, the castor oil, and everything else when I hit 39 weeks!)

  • Cousin used her pump ONE time! SHe went into labor about 2 hours after using it for an hour! Im assuming it works!
  • OB told me when I was 39w+ with DD that the only things they believe work are *not* membrane stripping, but nipple stimulation and sex, which conveniently can be combined.

I would NOT use the breast pump though. You want to save everything in there for baby... JMO.

  • I just have to jump in and say I love all of you who are saying that these OWT don't work unless your body is already ready, after my class last night.  Thank you, just thank you.
  • My doc said nipple stimulation could induce labor if your body was ready. I think you can use a breast pump but when I asked him we were talking about manual stimulation.
