gentian violet.

the mother effin' bottle fell out of the medicine cabinet and the cap broke in half spilling 2 ounces of dark purple all of my white porcelain sink!!!!

i got a decent amount of it up but my sink has all these little cracks in it (from being old) sort of like when you smoosh an egg shell... it actually was quite beautiful until now of course, now that it's bright freakin' purple!!!

anywho... the purple evil came up except where it absorbed into the cracks 

and of course we have our first open house in a few weeks... guess we get to buy a new sink.  

i.hate.this.day.

and now i'm done complaining, i promise.

Removing Gentian Violet stains:Gentian Violet will rub off counters and skin with rubbing alcohol, if used immediately. Spray stained fabric with aerosol hair spray; then wash normally.One mom reported having good luck with ZOUT stain remover, even after the stains were dry. Another used Didi 7 with similar results. Any item that can be safely bleached with chlorine bleach should come clean.A cotton swab/ball with vodka can get stains off baby's face. Rinse vodka off immediately after cleaning stain. Rubbing alcohol will work on baby's face. too. One mom reported that baby wipes worked pretty well, too (she used Huggies Supreme Natural Care Unscented wipes). worth a shot...good luck

thank you   i actually got the bulk of it up with rubbing alcohol and hairspray... it's just the stupid cracks where it absorbed... i'm letting it soak now with hot water and oxyclean... after that i'll give it another go with the rubbing alcohol but i think it's a lost cause at this point

You can buy sink repair stuff - it looks like white out but it covers stains well.  With allll of your spare time, run to home depot or lowes - it can be used on sinks or tubs.  GL with the open house!  We had to fix our sink when we sold our house too and the paint/repair stuff did a fine enough job.

WE spilled some on out linoleum.... not fun, but Plain bleach did the trick. Worth a shot. That stuff works wonders on thrush though.

Oh, what a pretty purple porcelain sink you have!  So, this probably won't work, but I swear by Nature's Miracle, that pet stain/odor product.  Any chance you can give that a try?  Will the purple stain maybe face in a few days after more use?
