When do you consider yourself paper pg?

DH and I preapplied to our agency and we were accepted to this year's Korea program! There were only seven spots, so we feel very blessed. We are now filling out and submitting all the paperwork and starting the homestudy process. Or is it when you get the actual referral that you're paper pg?

Re: When do you consider yourself paper pg?

  • My understanding is that paper pregnant is when you are officially in the system and waiting for a match.
  • So we're on our way then....

  • I considered it when Colombia approved us. But a lot of people say it when you mail your dossier off too so I think it can really be what you want it to be. To me, whenever you make a shift from "We may adopt" to "If nothing unexpected happens to derail us, we will adopt a child" then the term "paper pregnant" makes sense.
  • You are paper "TTC" ;)

  • Right, isn't this paper TTC and Paper pregnant is when you are matched?
  • I've heard many different ideas of when you actually become paper pregnant.  Even my husband and I had different ideas.  He thinks we were paper pregnant once we were homestudy approved, whereas I thought it was when Peru approved us.  Waiting until we receive a referral doesn't make much sense in our case, because everything will happen quite quickly then.

Pick a time that makes sense to you, and run with it!  Wink

  • We considered ourselves paper preggo once our HS was done and we were officially waiting. : ) We always had that doubt that our paperwork wouldn't be accepted for some reason -- and we truly had troubles with our agency on it ... so it was only after we got over that hump that we said we were officially preggo lol.
  • i would consider myself paper pg when I have an accepted referral... but that's just me.
After 5 years of TTC, 3 IUIs, 5 IVFs, 2 FETs, multiple losses and an adoption that wasn
  • When ever you chose. We did ours backwards. Knew which baby then got everything done. I felt it when homestudy was accepted from Canada.
  • Interesting mix of opinions on this one.
