Quick! Would you do this?

I want to run next door to get my key back and give a nice bottle of wine to my  neighbour for watching our cats last week. My kids are vegged out watching the Wiggles. Acceptable to run over? They are 2 &4.

 

ETA: I went., The kids didn`t move. I took the monitor with me too.

As long as you do not sit around and chit chat then you are fine..

nope..because your thank you could turn into a long conversation and without being rude and cutting off your neighbors who may want to chat, you will be stuck there, while your kids are unsupervised.  Wait until your DH gets home, or take the kids with.

4 maybe...2 no.  4's listen...2's give in to temptations to get into things they know they shouldnt.  At least that is my take on my kids. 

Take them with you so you arent tempted to stay and chat.

I would just run over, but my neighbors are like a green strip of grass away.  So, I can see my front door and the sides of my house.

personally no I wouldnt!  But I wouldnt flame someone who did if they didnt stay to talk even for a few minutes!

I've also called my neighbor and we've met out in the side yard in between our two houses to quickly exchange something before.

Definitely.  I ran next door with the 2 and almost-4 year old yesterday to borrow an egg...well, have an egg.  (I was making cupcakes for DD#2's birthday for school and only had two eggs.  I about cried at the idea of taking all three to the grocery store just to get eggs.  We have the best neighbors.)  DS was sound asleep in the swing and I wasn't taking him out in that cold/wind.  I tried to leave the girls home too but they insisted on coming.  Ran over, got the egg, ran back.  Neighbor totally understood and we didn't stand around chatting or anything.

In a nice suburban neighborhood, I would.  You have to know your kids.  Julia will already scold Emma if she does something she shouldn't lol!  We're working on that so she's not an annoying older sister, but when they're 4 and 2 I'm pretty sure I could trust them for something that short.  It's much quicker than taking a shower!
