Sally J

Hi again!  I did what you suggested about changing the codes for the wrappers.  I also found a 3 column background and changed it to that.  Thanks - I like the look of everything!

My other question is - how do I make the photos bigger on blogger?  It's set to the "large" setting when I post.  Can I somehow resize them on my own computer and then post?  (I'm all new to this and really not sure what to do!)

 Thanks so much.

Re: Sally J

  • I'm glad changing your html code worked.  Sometimes it can be tricky and really screw things up.

You know, I have no idea how to resize pictures when uploading through blogger.  If you upload through another website (flickr you should be able to copy/paste the code and then use html code to resize the photo.  Google html code image size.

I use WLW, so I just drag and drop my photo into my post I'm editing, then drag the corner of the photo to resize to the appropriate width.  Since I see my post in web view, I know how wide I can resize it.

Punk's blog might have more info:

    Hope that helps!

  • From what I was reading yesterday, the easiest way is through flickr like Sally said. Upload your pictures and then you can pick the All Sizes button above one photo. Choose the url for the size you like. Then in Blogger, instead of selecting to upload the picture through browsing you files, on the right there is an option to upload through the url. You can do it through html code in the edit html file but I think that is a littler harder as you are beginning. Also, make sure your wrapping for the main section is as big (or a bit bigger) than the size of the photo you upload.
  • Loading the player...
  • you can change the size by using width and height.

blogger creates the following HTML Code:

    <a href="https://www.accidentalsexiness.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/gaga4.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 299.5px; height: 192px;" src="https://www.accidentalsexiness.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/gaga4.JPG" border="0" alt="" /></a>

all you have to do if you want the pic to be half the size.. is to divide that px # by 2... and then you'll get half the size photo.. or mulitple it by .75 if you want a pic 75% of the size.

    hope that helps.

  • Thanks everyone.  I tried uploading just through blogger and changing my html code, but my pics looked blurry for some reason. I must be doing something wrong there.  I then tried one on Flickr.  The size was really big, but I made it smaller by 75% (in the html code) and that seemed to work.

I don't suppose there's any way to do the "All Sizes" think on Shutterfly, is there?  I plan to order some pictures from them anyway; it would be nice to do everything all on one site.

Sally, PSU, and Maddie - Thanks for all the help.  I didn't get to play around with it too much, yet, but I will.  Probably tomorrow since it's midnight!

I just checked for Shutterfly since that's what I use.  I've never uploaded to blogger from shutterfly, but if you have a share site, you can right click on the photo and send it to blogger, or get the permalink.  I tried sending it directly to blogger, but it creates a new post and makes the photo tiny.

I'm guessing you can use the permalink and html code to link the photo to blogger.  I have no idea if you will be able to resize to what you want though.

When you upload through blogger directly it compresses the image and essentially reduces the quality.  That's probably why it's blurry.

I'll mention again that WindowsLive Writer is a free download and really simplifies the whole process of putting photos on your blog and resizing them.  I'm pretty sure it uploads them through Picasa...which is another way to do put photos on your blog.

Sign up for Picasa.  Then once you open one photo in Picasa, it automatically uploads all your photos from the folder you're in, and organizes those photos by creating a folder that matches the name on your computer.  I used to use Picasa for simple editing, but I never really used it to host pictures (I use Shutterfly).

  • Thanks for checking on Shutterfly for me; that was nice of you!  I will check into WindowsLive Writer.  That sounds like it might be simpler to use.  I think a friend of mine mentioned Picasa to me a while back - if I remember right, she does a lot of cool things on it with editing.  I'll have to check it out it.

Thanks again for all of your help -- I really appreciate it!  (I love learning how to do all of this!)
