We took her to the pediatrician this morning, who sent us to a neurologist this afternoon. We were there all afternoon, and basically just talked about what it could be, why seizures happen and what to do if it happens again.
There are a couple of things about her that concerned him. She has these spots (that we thought were just birthmarks) that apparently are often indicitive of a neurological disorder, plus her head is huge for her body, and her soft spot hasn't closed yet. SOOOO since she has all these concerns, they are going to move forward. If she had one seizure and no other issues, the protocol is to wait until the second time. Probably next week, she will have an MRI, which she has to be sedated for, and an ambulatory EEG which is the electodes on her head for 24 hours. They are going to try to allow us to take it home, and if that doesn't work then she will have to be hospitalized.
Until then, life goes on as normal. School/work/daycare for the rest of the week. He said there is no point in sitting at home, waiting for something that may or may not happen. I spoke wiht the director at the daycare, who is also a friend of ours, and everyone there is CPR certified and trained what to do if it does happen again.
Yes, I feel sick about it. But then I realize that she is happy, developing normal, (almost) walks, talks and I'm not as concerned. Hopefully this is all precautionary.
Thanks again for all of your prayers and good thoughts!
Re: Update on my baby
I was thinking of you all day! Glad you got in to see the neuro today and didn't have to wait. hopefully your week will be uneventful and they will get some good answers from the tests.
please don't hesitate to call if you need anything.
stay strong, mommy. you're doing a great job!
hugs and kisses to you, F and your beauties!
The head growth thing is not new. She actually had a head U/S around 9 months b/c she jumped off the chart. The U/S was clear! Really, what they are looking for is to see if she has any of those spots on her brain, which causes seizures. That requires an MRI, unfortunately. It's not anesthesia, which makes me feel a little better.
How is your little guy doing from last night, Belle?
It's amazing that a few tears in the pedi's office in the morning can lead you to an appt at an overbooked neuro in the afternoon! Seriously though, I love our pedi
And thank you, thank you, thank you!
Well, the good news is that they are working on getting to the bottom of it and getting you some answers.
I think going on with life as usual is a good idea, as hard as it might feel to actually do.

How scary for all of you, but it does sound like you've got the best medical care going and they'll find some answers for you. Hang in there, love.

Glad you got some answers today. Prayers and good thoughts headed your way .
Did they give you a name of the neurological disorder they think it might be? The birthmarks (cafe au lait spots) and big head grow sound very familiar to me.

I think you did all the right things. You've done all you can do. Hopefully the MRI will give you some more info, and hopefully it's not a big deal. I'm sick for you! I can't even imagine.
HUGS to you and the girls!
Glad you were able to get in today. Hopefully the rests of the tests are just precautionary.
Hang in there!
Oh my, I am so so sorry you're dealing with this.

I'm not sure what's going on, I've missed the OP on this. Just wanted to say I'm sending T&P's your way and I hope everything gets worked out.
