Re: anyone take a long time to get pregant the first time but got pregnant the second time within a shor

  • It was 2 years total, 1 year of infertility treatments and IVF to conceive #1.

#2 was the first ovulation post-weaning.

We were told we had a 4% chance - EVER - without medical intervention and maybe a 15 - 20% chance with IVF again.  They told us to be prepared for #1 to be an only.

Fast forward to 2 more unmedicated pregnancies after #2 - both ending in miscarriage - and I truly believe #2 is an amazing miracle.

I wish you a shorter journey the second time around.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • It took us two years and two IUI's to get our first.  With this one I went of bc, weren't really trying during that time (5 months) but this last month we just timed it right.

  • Took us 1 year with DS.  Got BFP this time after 1 period and still BF when DS was 10 months.

  • It took us about three months for pg #1 that ended in m/c.  Then a year to conceive our daughter who we lost at birth in June.  I'm pg again now.  First cycle trying.  Hopefully this is our happy, healthy, sticky pg :)

    Good luck to you!

  • It took us a year to get pg with DD#1, and only 3 months to get pg with #2.
  • It took us 2 years and Clomid to get pg with DS1.  We got pg with DS2 our second month not trying, but not preventing and 2 weeks after I weaned DS1.  Good luck!
  • It took us 14 months and injectables/IUI to get pregnant with DS1. We knew we wanted two close together so I went right back to the doctor for #2. For DS2 it took 2 cycles of injectables/IUI to get pregnant. So it was much faster the second time, but I still needed medical help and we knew what worked last time so we just went right back to that. Good luck!
  • Over a year the first time, including 2 m/c.  "Oops" the second time.

This is almost exactly my story, except DD took longer than year, and there was a miscarriage along the way before DD.

  • About a year and 1/2 with #1, then 11 months pp for #2 ( which was 3 months after 1st AF and 1 month after stopping bfing)
  • Over 2 years of trying with the first, including 4 IUIs.  With #2, we wern't even really trying (not being too careful though!).  Best. Suprise. Ever!
  • IVF for #1 after 3 failed IUI's. This pregnancy was a surprise miracle as soon as I weaned nighttime feedings and had my first ovulation.
  • 8 months the first time, 1 this time
  • 1 year and 8 months the first time, 3 months the second (first ovulation).

  • 3 years ttc number one including 8 months of treatment, and huge surprise this time.
  • Yes!  One year w/ DS then DD was an "oops".

  • I think sometimes that's how so many of us got into this situation. Took us 2 years with #1 and I was pg with #2 when my first was 6 months! Good luck!
