My friend is looking to hire a nanny. I'm helping her find a few companies to look into. Has anyone used Boston Nanny? or any other nanny agencies you've used and liked.
We used sittercity as well to find our wonderful nanny. You end up doing a little more work (screening applicants) than you would with an agency but it is way cheaper.
I am actually a nanny myself. I have never needed to go through an agency (I lucked out and found my jobs through Craigslist and Gardenmoms/via word of mouth from a mom who knew me).
That being said both of those resources are great. Sittercity is also great. If you are going to go the agency route I met with American Nanny a few times for info and everyone I met was very professional. Beacon Hill Nannies is also a wonderful agency. Both can get pricey, but they are very thorough.
I usually tell parents to at least try Craigslist or GardenMoms..both are free, so it's worth a try!
Good luck, and if you have any other questions I'm happy to help.
I would highly recommend Boston Nanny. I myself am a nanny and have also worked in their offices as well as gotten several jobs through them. Your friend won't be disappointed.
I think sittercity is amazing! it's nice because you can find people who have paid to run background checks on themselves -- a little safer than meeting who knows who on craigslist or other unsecured sites.
Re: Nanny Recommendation
We used www.sittercity.com for a sitter and they have nannies as well. Our sitter is fantastic!

As a longtime Nanny,I always searched on my own. The best year I have had no luck and joined a few Agencies.
I joined Beacon Hill Nannies and personally they have been of no help to me. They are very, very rude.
