2nd Trimester

concerned

I am 21 weeks pregnant and haven't felt the baby yet.. not even a flutter - NOTHING. The only thing I do feel sometimes is pressure, like someone is pushing my lower stomach to the back of my spine which only last a few seconds and then goes away. I think it might just be gas.

I've had the big ultrasound and NT scan - everything looked fine. I was at my 19 weeks appt and heard the heartbeat.

So, Should I be concerned or just more patient?

Re: concerned

  • Doesn't seem like you have any reason (other than being PG and having mommy hormones) to be concerned. Maybe the LO is just comfy. If you've had the big ultrasound and you've heard the heartbeat, just relax. The LO will introduce itself soon enough.

  • Did you see LO moving at the U/S?

If this is your first, you may not know what you are looking for.

It sounds to me the pressure you are feeling is not the gas, but the baby moving positions. I sometimes feel LO shift from left side to right, and thats what it feels like. Be patient, soon you will know for sure. Expect it to be low, below your belly button around your panty line.

Last night, I had some chocolate, then laid still in bed straight like a board, then LO started to move all over the place. I can feel it but others still can't. Maybe try different things like this.

I wouldn't worry though if Dr. says all is well, ALL IS WELL! :)

  • Yep. It's my first. Can't you tell ?? (haha).  The baby was moving around at my last u/s (18 weeks).  The pressure is a strange feeling.. so that's why I chucked it up to gas.  But, you're probably right... I never felt that pressure prior to pregnancy, so it could be the baby shifting. I think it's happening after I eat.

I will try the chocolate trick. thanks!
