Private vs Public Schooling.

Re: Private vs Public Schooling.

  • I went to public elementary and middle, and private Catholic high school.  DH did the exact opposite.

I think we will go with public till high school, then private non-religious.  One thing I disliked about private high school was that we never had updated materials - so I would have to research a bit more when the time comes.

  • DH was homeschooled for half of his child and went to a "private" school the other (aka, he lived in a remote community where a bunch of people "schooled" the children in a classroom setting, but weren't exactly teachers by trade).

I went to public and private schools and was homeschooled during middle school.

We've talked about a little, but haven't reached a conclusion. We do not agree with everything taught in public schools, but feel that, as parents, we can counter those things at home and can be involved enough to make sure things are going well for them in other areas. At some point, my kids may end up in a private Christian school, because there is always a possibility that I will go teach at one.

We're not really into homeschooling, so it is unlikely we'll go that route unless we find ourselves in a position dictating otherwise.

  • We are going to take it on a kid by kid basis.  I went to private, public and was homeschooled (for a year) and my husband went to public, but has a bad association with private schools because of people in his family, and because I am currently in school to become a teacher, we have decided to take each kid seperately.  So whether we do private for one, public for another and homeschool yet another, it's all going to be according to the needs of the child.  Call us weird, but that's the way we've decided to do it!

  • I went to public until high school and then Catholic public. Nate went to Catholic from K-12.

The twins will both go to either Catholic or Private.
