Update on Douglas- he has lymphadenitis

We got home around ten thirty last night, Douglas was given IV antibiotics while at urgent care, he slept through most of it, and came home and went right to bed. Woke up this morning asking to go to school. The doctors said it would be okay to send him as long as he did not have a fever. I have to call his doctors office this morning to follow up. The doctors believe it is a result of him having strep a few weeks ago but thinks that to play it on the safe side we should get the lymph node biopsied.

I will be calling his doctors office as soon as they open to see if they agree and get the referral to have the biopsy done.

Thanks for the continued T&P

Re: Update on Douglas- he has lymphadenitis

  • Poor little guy! I'm glad they were able to figure out what was wrong. That is great that he is feeling good enough to want to go to school.
  • He hates missing school and honestly other than the swollen lymph node, and tender neck he has no other symptoms.

So far so good. The thing is a swollen lymph node on a skinny little kid is really scary looking, when it's your "baby"? It's really scary. DS had this once from an ear infection with strep.

It's great that he feels well enough to attend school. That's the best place for him if he's up to it. Maybe you can grab a nap, you must be beat.

The biopsy is a formality; I'm sure it's going to be negative.

I agree with this completely.  I'm glad you have some answers and that he is feeling well.  Given his recent history of being sick, I am sure the biopsy is just a precaution and will come back negative.

I hope you can catch up on some sleep today!

Thanks auntie.. I have been reading up on it. I should stay away from google.. and it looks like it is a result of the strep, a secondary infection. It is not common but it happens.

Her first concern was cat scratch fever (I did not even know that was a real thing) but seeing how he has not been around cats that is out the window.

    Thanks again everyone
