rubbing head = burping?

Did you ever hear this or experience this?  When the babies were smaller, they had a lot of gas problems.  One of my friends said that what helped her kids was to rub their heads, which would result in burping.  Since then, if we tried to get the girls to burp, along with patting them on the back, we would rub their heads.  It always worked.  Even now, when we don't burp the girls anymore.  I just rubbed one of the babies head to soothe her, and she burped.  I think this is absolutely crazy.  I am amazed that rubbing of the head results in burping.

Never heard of it but DS rubs his own head while I'm rocking him to sleep and he always passed gas/burps while he's doing it. Weird!
