Preemies

Do all preemies make grunting noises???

my little one makes so many noises when we lay her down. She grunts and squirms and gets all red Indifferent.

I am not sure if this is something that all preemies do of if my little one just likes to keep us awake.

THANKS!!!

Re: Do all preemies make grunting noises???

  • My son did it constantly.  We even did a video of it on our camera to show our GI and pedi.  All said it's normal.  He always looked like he was in such discomfort and it broke my heart.  He did it for 3 months then it just stopped.  My daughter grunted once in a while.  Usually when trying to do #2 but that's normal with babies in general.  I know it's strange but I was constantly told how normal it was.  I personally think once he started reflux meds it got better, but that's my non professional opinion.
  • Yes.  Mine did all the time!!  He outgrew it after a while.

  • Mine did. I cried my eyes out the first night he was home b/c I thought I would never sleep again (I'm a really light sleeper). It stopped eventually (and I learned to sleep through it).
  • Yes. We called him our little goat because he made so many noises. We moved him to his crib at 3 months and suddenly he (and we) started STTN. I kept waking up and checking on him every time he'd make a noise when he was in our room and I didn't when he moved to the crib - it was so much better for all of us!

  • Yes DD would grunt and was all together a noisy breather. She had a 'floppy windpipe"
  • Mine still does!  Constantly!  Unless he is in a deep sleep.

The Dr just said most likely he'll be a "talker" lol!
