Looking to possibly move to Chandler/Gilbert area

My husband and I are contemplating transferring to AZ in a little over a year.  The office would be in Chandler.  Any suggestions on places to live?  How are the schools and daycare?  Anything else I should know about.  I am from Chicago so the weather would be just a bit different...haha.

Re: Looking to possibly move to Chandler/Gilbert area

  • I moved from the Detroit area to Gilbert a little over a year ago.  I went to college in Chicago so I know where you're coming from.  I'm a teacher in a private school in Gilbert and I love the area.

Public schools in Chandler/Gilbert are some of the best around.  It's a very good public school system.  It's taking some cuts, but still a very good area.

I now live in Mesa, but right on the edge of east Gilbert.  It's a great place to live.  The summers are very warm, but you get used to it and you just stay inside.  The winters are great since now is really the time to get outside and enjoy the weather.

  • Chandler/Gilbert area is very nice.  I like Gilbert better but they both have good schools.  I moved here from Chicago.  I miss the summers a lot and try to get back there whenever I can for the summer fun.  The summers here are awful in my opinion. But I love a midwestern 4th of July.

    Good luck!

  • I live in Gilbert and I love it.  It's a great part of town.  Very safe.  Top rated schools (both public and charter).  I would recommend the San Tan Mall Area.  Everything is pretty much brand new.  Lots of shopping, restaurants, close to freeway etc.  It's mostly young families.  There's not a whole lot of nightlife if you are into that, but it's not far away.
