DH really likes the name Madeleine (pronounced Madalyn) but most Americans I have met pronounce the ending as "line" not "lyn". I don't mind the name but I don't want LO to grow up having to constantly pronounce her name and spell it for people. I have to do that with my name and while I am use to it now it was annoying when I was a kid. I would prefer to keep the traditional spelling. Madalyn and all the other variants just look odd to me. I also hate the nm Maddy.
Re: How do you pronounce Madeleine?
mad-uh-lyn
however, i can see why someone would pronounce it mad-uh-line.
Madeleine="mad-eh-len"
Madelyn="mad-a-lynn"
Madeline="mad-a-line"
This is how I pronounce each name.
