Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How often does your 5 month old wake up at night?

She is still waking up twice, and then again around 5/5:30 (which I am trying to stop, bc she doesn't need to eat and I think she really just wants to play).  I'm so tired!

  • too often these days....twice, i guess

  • She's down by 9, then sleeps til 430-5. At that point we can usually soothe her back to sleep just by giving her binkie, but if not then we just bring her to bed with us and she'll sleep til around 730. Only once in the last month or so did she need to eat at 5ish, but that day she went right back to sleep and slept til 830.
  • She's down at 7:30pm and up at 4:30/5am usually.

Then up again around 8am. She's started sleeping an hour or two longer since we started oatmeal this week.

  • Most nights she gets up twice, although three times is not unheard of.  I'm pretty sure she still needs to eat once at night (she's only about 13.5/14 lbs).  She goes to sleep at 7:30 and is usually up for the day at 6:30, 7am.  I'm pretty tired too!  (She's 5 months, one week)
  • 3 times and up for the day at 5:30-6 ish.  I am beyond frustrated and tired.

  • Usually 0-3 depending on the night.  The last several nights?  4-5+.  I'm not a happy camper.  She didn't even do this when she was a newborn.
  • He usually doesn't. If he wakes up, I hear him on the monitor and he usually falls back to sleep in a few minutes. I rarely have to go in his room - if I do it's usually just to move him away from the wall of the crib or something.

  • Is she CRYING or just awake? If the latter, have you tried just letting her be and perhaps she'll soothe herself back to sleep?

My DS is 5.5 months and is, thankfully, STTN.  I consider it thus, even though he does occasionally wake up once or twice, because his awakenings are only brief and he'll suck his thumb or "sing" himself back to sleep.

He generally sleeps from 9 pm to 6:30 am.

  • Its been every 3 hours again or so for about the last three weeks. Its so frustrating and I'm so exhausted. He's normally down about 9, up at 1, up at 4, up at 7 and if I'm lucky, he'll sleep in with us until 8-8:30. Not really working for any of us!

  • I've found what your LO is doing to be pretty normal at this age, from what I've read on the boards and in other places. DD wakes up 2 - 3 times, and she acts hungry each time (and eats a lot), so I'm not sure how to cut out a feeding.

The big problem for us lately is that she'll wake up around 5:30/6 and get up every 10 - 15 minutes until 8:30 b/c she wants to play. It's frickin exhausting, and I don't know what to do about it.

  • haha twice? That'd be like a vacation.  Every 2 hours, or less for us.
  • We put him to bed at 10pm and he will be up around 1:30-2am and then again at around 3:30-4am then he up for the day between 6-6:30am.  He will eat every 1.5-3 hours during the day.  He eats ceral and 2-3 containers of babyfood a day now and you can still feel his ribs he is supper active always moving.

  • My night owl usually goes to bed around 10:30-11 then sleeps until about 8.  I usually change her then feed her right away.  I can hear her stomach growling while she's feeding...poor thing.  Her morning nap is usually from 10:30-1 or so and I usually lay down with her and take a nap then too.
  • Typically once, but last night not at all.

They are always out for the night at 7pm, and when waking once (around 3am) will sleep until 7:30 or 8.

This morning they were up at 6:45, but I'll take it if they STTN.

  • i dont know, if they do they dont make a sound and go right back to sleep. they go to bed at 9pm and get up at 7am.
  • Naps around 8 pm - 10:30/11 pm (when we go to bed), eats, goes to sleep until either 6-7 am or doesn't wake up fully until 10-10:30am.

    I know, lucky duck.

  • 2-3 times.  In bed at 6:30, up at 10:30 sometimes, up at 1:30, up at 4:30, up at 6:30am for the day.
  • He'll sleep from about 8:30-5:00.  I'll give him his nuk and he'll sleep for another 2-3 hours.

  • none!!! well, in the last two weeks, he has gotten up once on two different nights at about 5 in the morning. He usually goes to bed around 8 and doesn't get up until 8 the next morning. he sleeps anywhere from 8 - 13.5 hours a night
  • It varies so much. Some nights he goes from 8PM-5:30 AM, eats, and goes back to sleep until we have to wake him to get ready (he will go until after 8AM on weekends). Last night he was up at 1:30, 5:30 (and then had a hard time going to sleep again). On rough nights he is up at 10:30, 1:30, 4:40, so every 3 hours.

But mostly it's only once or twice, which I see as normal for a 5 month old BFer.

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
