Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I wish he would decide to STTN when it's my night

DH and I have a deal. Whoever puts DS down for the night (we alternate) shouldn't have to get up for nightly feedings. We started it last night which actually had DH have 2 nights in a row of nightly feedings.

DS STTN until 3:30 (8hrs) and 4am (8.5hrs) for him. Tonight is my night. DS decided to make noises from 10:30 until 11:30 and then wake up fully at 12:15(5hrs) for a bottle. He was WIIIDE awake, jabbering away.

Now I'm just waiting for him to fall asleep again so he can wake up in a few hours to eat again. :(

I know it's probably not the 4 month wakeful, but when/if that happens for DS, do I feed every time he wakes up? I feel like I shouldn't, but it's just been out of habit to do so, since he usually only gets up once.

  • What time does your LO go to bed?  If you kept him up a little later, he might actually sleep through "your" night.  Especially if he's doing 8 or 9 hour stretches.

My DD goes to bed around 9 p.m. and never wakes up before 5:30 at the very earliest, but usually more like 8 a.m.

We've been doing anywhere in the 7pm hour. He's soooo super tired and we have been pretty good with a nice 8 or 9 hour stretch at times. DH gets up super early (5am) so a 4am wake up isn't so bad. I think I may try to stretch it to 8 where we originally had it.

Well if DH is getting up that early anyway, then at least you have your nights to yourself.  Because my DD goes to bed later, DH and I don't have a lot of "us" time yet.  We're slowly working her schedule earlier too but I'm not a morning person.  lol.

  • We also rotate nights.  Last night was my night, and she moved around all night.  I got up four times thinking she was awake, even made a bottle, and she was sound asleep until 6:30.  Made for a tired mommy this morning.
