Babies: 3 - 6 Months

This is NOT good...

DD HATES PEOPLE! Other than myself, DH and my sister! She's going through this phase and it's actually hurting some peoples feelings. My MIL/FIL...she screams when they hold her... and the same with my parents. It's not like she doesn't know them, it just seems as If this started suddenly. Will this go away?? Anyone else having this problem?

Re: This is NOT good...

  • Totally normal. DD won't let ANYONE hold her if I am in the room. DH is totally hurt by this.

  • From what I hear its normal around this age.. Ava is the same way and it came on all of a sudden
  • Same thing happened to us...but it actuallu seems to be getting better.  It's just a phase.  It's actually a real developmental emotional milestone called "stranger anxiety"...you can look it up on babycenter. She will get over it!

I figured it was just a phase but it was just so strange when it suddenly hit...poor girl! All she wanted was her MommyEmbarrassed

  • It's the "stranger danger" phase.  I'm not looking forward to that!

  • So far DS has only cried with my SIL and MIL (once really bad) but other than that he's a cool dude!

I really wanted to say your DD is THE cutest little girl I have seen in a long time :-)

Would it be mean to say that I may be pleased if DS would cry when my MIL held him?  Only b/c she is a pain in the a$$ and criticizes everything I do when it comes to parenting.

  • Yup. My mom tried to hold her the other day, and suddenly she just started crying! Stopped as soon as DH or I held her.

And she smiles all the time for me. But when we went to visit my mom today? Not a single smile. Just serious, intent looks.
