So we told my parents last week about Optimus Prime, and they were excited for us.
Background info: my mom has this weird sibling rivalry with her sister, who is my godmother and is like a second mother to me. Also, mom and aunt work together.
My aunt called me two days ago, and I called her back today and shared our news. Tonight, my mom calls, and I know she's calling because she's pissed I told my aunt. Anyway, she calls, I answer, she acts all put out that I told my aunt, saying "I didn't know you were telling people yet. I thought you might wait awhile." Well, I'm not, and I told her earlier in the conversation that we are telling close family members as we talk to them. Like not calling especially to share the news, but to people we talk to on a regular basis, sharing our news as we talk to them.
In related news, we've narrowed our baby names down.
Finnian Robert for a boy
Scarlett Maeve, Scarlett Jane or Scarlett Eloise for a girl
Re: my mom is crazy cakes, episode #505020320
what happened to Milligan=(
I love all your name choices though! If we were to have another baby. I would totally name her Jane.
breezee, I still love Milligan, but MH hates every girl name besides Scarlett and Elizabeth. It's RIDICULOUS. Anyway, with this compromise, I get full control of middle name rights.
Mr.eclaires suuuuuucks=P Full middle name rights are good though=) Plus, I guess since the baby is his, he is allowed some input.
Love, love, love, love the names.
One of my work BFFs has a Scarlett. She's 3 months old and beeyooteeful.
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
I am so excited that you're usung Scarlett as a first name!! Love Scarlett and Finnian. Maybe you'll have boy/girl twins so you can use both names?!
That would make my life! LOL.... I think I would like it though, seriously. My MIL is a twin - she has a twin brother. But I think it passes through the female genes.
I think you'd be great at it.
I think its the mother's genes too. You did say your cycles were a little wonky for a while, so maybe your ovaries spit out two this cycle!
No, it's only fraternal twins that are hereditary. Since it's caused by producing two eggs, any genetic likelihood of twins comes from the mother.
ETA: I love the names! Also, I expected a crazier story about your mom. That was pretty tame.
Oh I welcome opinions on our girl names.
I really like Scarlett Jane - but the issue is that Jane is MH's grandma's name [dad's side] and Jackson's middle name is after his grandpa [mom's side]. I think my family will get all drama-rama about it as will my MIL since she doesn't get along so hot with her MIL.
It would not be after her; it'd just be we like it, but I think that'd be hard to make people see.
GHM - I could be wrong on the twins, but the twins are definitely on his mom's side of the family and have passed through the females on his mom's side. Maybe there's no "rule of thumb?" I dunno.
Well, I was way wrong...maybe I was mixing it up with the balding thing. Anyway, found this:

It looks like twins don't really "run" in the family, but hyperovulation can.
That makes sense, I guess - in my MIL's family, all the twins are fraternal and a lot are boy/girl twins, actually. I'll tell my SIL to stay away from having kids, haha. She would die w/ twins.
