    If a meetup group is designated private it may or may not be possible to join. I belonged to a meetup group that was private, and the administrator/organizer had the option to give or not give a link to click to send a "join" request.

    If there's no link to "join" on the main page, then it is closed and the only way to get in would be to message one of the group organizers.
