My LO has RSV

My DD got a cough on wednesday but I assumed it was a normal cold- last night she developed horrible rapid wheezing breathing, so I took her to the Dr today and sure enough they diagnoised her with RSV- how scary!  They said I caught it early where she won't need hospitalization, and she is being prescribed some type of cortizone medicine and I just have to keep an eye on it to make sure she doesn't get worse. also recommended vaporizor and having her sleep a little up right

Re: My LO has RSV

  • Glad you caught it early...we just went through this too.  We used VCR tapes (finally, a use for them!) under the feet of LO's crib to prop one end higher.  Hope she gets to feeling better soon.

  • henry just got over rsv. it's so hard to see them so sick :(

henry had to take breathing treatments w/ the nebulizer but oddly enough liked the face mask! he slept all his naps in the car seat (locked into the stroller, which i wheeled around the house to help him sleep better!) it was a rough 2 or 3 weeks! hope you lo is better soon!!

EXACTLY what happened to us. DS was 4 months old. Unfortunately the clinic I had to take him to (the pedi was full the day I was trying to get him in) that diagnosed him with it, told me there wasn't anything I could give him for it and that we just had to wait it out! I had no idea, so I assumed they knew what they were talking about. 5 days later when he wasn't getting any better, I took him to the pedi and they gave me 3 meds for him! I was so mad!! He got over it pretty quickly after finally getting the meds.

  • My LO had RSV at 9 weeks old. I had to go to take LO to the doctor 3 days in a row and they told me there was nothing they could give her either and I had to ride it out. It was horrible. She lost her voice from crying so much. I finally started giving her some tylenol because she had a slight fever and I would steam the shower up once or twice a day when she was at her worst. it took about 7 days for LO to finally feel better. Bad thing was it was right at Christmas so we did not get many pictures.
