cradle cap

it spread to his face... is this still considered cradle cap if its on his face? or is it baby acne? it looks more of a rash to me..

what are you guys doing for the itching? i feel so bad for him!  mittens dont even help him at night b/c in the morning his mittens are yellow from the puss and his head is so red

i tried head n shoulders shampoo, olive oil, baby oil, oil gel

and the only thing that use to help was me not eating dairy but now that doesnt even help

Re: cradle cap

  • Aww, that sounds rough.  I don't know if you should use something as chemical-full as Head and Shoulders.  We rub olive oil into his head, wait five to ten minutes, and then use a soft baby brush to brush his scalp until a ton of the dead flakes come out.  Then we give him a bath and get the oil out.  Maybe call his pedi?

  • She had it on her eyebrows and what ended up working for us was Calendula Cream by California Baby. It works really well!

  • You may ask for a 2nd opinion from your pedi...if it's itching, it may not be cradle cap at all.

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.

Yeah, I agree. LO has cradle cap, but no itching.

  • Mine had mild cradle cap and some roughness on his cheeks and Aquaphor baby wash is doing wonders.

This! I just mentioned it in a post from someone else earlier.  I LOVE this stuff.

  • Cradle cap, as innocent as it seems, apparently can cause a barrage of issues with their skin.  My pedi said to keep it under control with olive oil.  I'd probably call his pedi and see if you can get a dermatologist referral if it won't go away and is spreading.  Hope the little guy feels better soon!
  • DD's has spread down towards her eyebrows and was also really itchy.  She woke up some mornings looking like we rolled her down a hill.  Pedi gave us a prescription shampoo for her head and lotion for her face.  Seems to help, but it really dries out her forehead.  I'd call the doctor.
