Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Your dog and DC...

What does your dog seem to think of DC?  Love, hate, indifferent?

Our 9 yr old Coco, could care less about the baby, except that DD gets more attention than her.  She'll give a sniff or a rare lick here and there, but that's about it.  I kinda wish she were more protective of DD.

Re: Your dog and DC...

  • Our dog is about the same, I don't think he sees DD as human yet, so I'm not surprised he's not protective.  She's starting to try to pet him, though, and it's super cute.

  • Our pomeranian started off being very protective of her, it was cute. Our lab mix was petrified of her.

Now both are kind of like "whatever", unless DD is playing with Sophie like I mentioned in my previous post, then the pomeranian can't take his eyes off her.

  • We have an american bulldog and he thinks DS is fantastic. If he cries Rocko feels he needs to make sure he is ok. He wants to be in the same room as him always and at night he sleeps outside the nursery. It's actually really cute.

This! Exactly!  We have a 6 yr old Boxer.

  • They love him.  My mom's dog does as well.  They may love him too much actually.  The other day he was in his walker and I was cooking.  I heard a slurping sound and figured he was chewing on his hand like he always does.  About 30 seconds later I looked over to ask him if his hand tasted good and I saw our boxer was licking him in the mouth.  I about died, but he was loving it.  It won't be the last time that happens I'm sure.

Our other dog put her paws up on his crib mattress and watches him sleep for a few minutes before she goes to sleep.  It's so cute.

  • Our dog is also like this (indifferent).  I'm assuming once Rosemary starts feeding the dog, they'll be the best of friends :)  I guess I should add that Lucy (my dog) would lick the crap out of dd any chance she got once she does notice the baby, but I don't feel like she's a guardian of her or anything...

  • Our Australian cattle dog seems pretty indifferent.  At first she would steer clear of DS. she wouldn't even go in his room.  We started hiding treats for her there and now it's her favorite place.  He's starting to be interested in her and we're hoping that once he's bigger and crawling around dropping Cheerios everywhere she'll be interested in him too.
  • Oh yeah, Coco is a chow hound so when DD starts dropping nom noms...it's on like donkey kong!
  • My dogs are both going to be 2 in March... they don't really seem to care.  They will come over and sniff, but that is really the extent of it.

  • We have an American Pitbull and over all she is really good with him. She definitely knows he's there and is interested in him. Sometimes she gets too over excited and licks his head to death but other than that she's pretty chill....

  • Our dog is coming around to DD. He's only a year old so he's still kind of in the puppy stage, and he's a bit on the hyper side so we were careful with him around DD in the beginning. Now he'll go up to her when she's on the floor and lick her face and wag his tail. It's really cute actually. He still gets a bit jealous when DH holds DD because he's Daddy's boy!!

  • We have a Puggle and he loves LO.  He is always sniffing her and trying to cuddle up to her when she has her floor time.  He is the only one that can make her laugh out loud though, and I get kind of jealous of him. haha.  She loves when we play fetch with him and cracks up when he brings the ball back.  He does eye up her Sophie too, so I have to have my eye on him the whole time she has Sophie so he won't steal it.
  • Our 2 yorkies seem to like LO.  Whenever she lays on a blanket on the ground they come over and sniff her and give her a quick lick.  Our male yorkie sits on my lap or at my feet when I'm nursing, looking out like he's guarding us.  It's pretty cute.
  • our dog loves DS! When he does tummy time, she lays with him, when he cries she looks so worried. She doesn't care he gets more attention, we have been teaching him to pet her. I think its awesome for our son to have such a wonderful relationship with his dog.
  • Our lab could care less about the baby.  He licks a rare toe now and then but it's only when we're holding the baby.  I've tried numerous times to get a picture of the dog and DS but the dog runs when I bring the baby toward him.  Hopefully when DS is older they'll be good buddies.

  • I have a Cairn (like Toto) and she loves DD.  When we get home from work/daycare my pup has to look into the carseat to make sure DD is there.  When she's in the bouncer, my dog will curl up on the floor right near DD's feet.  If she makes any sound and my dog is not in the room with her she runs to find her. If we're giving DD a bath, my dog sits next to me to watch. I actually have said outloud to my dog, "You're not her mom, you don't have to run immediately to her." It is really cute though.

  • We have two poms, and one of them is pretty indifferent. But the other one totally loves her. He always goes up to her and smells her and licks her hands and feet like crazy. He also starts wimpering when the baby starts crying, which I think is just adorable that he does that.

  • Harley is protective of Lilly...if she is in the bassinet (in our bedroom) and we are in the living room she will whine at the bedroom door because she wants to be in there to make sure she is OK.  It's pretty cute.

  • Our pom loves G. ?She is always trying to lick her hands, ears, face and feet. ?If I lay G on the floor Zoey lays right next to her or will bring one of her dog toys to her. ?If G is on my lap while I am feeding Zoey jumps on my lap and will try to lay with her. ?When G is napping in her crib Zoey will nap on the rocker. ?It's really cute. ?
