Babies: 3 - 6 Months

age spacing

Any advice from moms of 2 or more on spacing out their kids? I think we want 4, and I feel like I could easily be talked into having our next pretty soon. Anyone want to share their experiences in spacing out their kids? Any age differences seem too close in retrospect?

    hahahaha

  • We want to have 5 kids, and are going to TTC again in July, when Connor will be 9 mo.
  • Just curious as to why would anyone intentionally have more than 2 or 3 kids??  Ur crazy :)

  • Almost eactly 2 years apart.  It's working out great so far.  DD can communicate and talk and walk well enough to get around by herself while I'm nursing DS or whatever.  And she's old enough to understand how great her little brother is :)

  • DS and DD are about 13 months apart and it has been great. Not easy, but great.

We are waiting a little bit longer to start TTC again though. Probably next fall. My body needs a break.

Uhhh...some people want big familes. Nothing wrong with that.

Our two  are 2.5 years apart and its been a good age difference so far. DD #1 was old enough to understand, and she's really done well with the transition. She's also a little more independent and can help out a little, which has been nice. Ideally, we'd like to wait that long before having #3 as well.

  • My midwife gave me a great article on child spacing.  Not from a psychological standpoint, but health wise.  The article said ideally one should wait 18-24 months before conceiving again. (Conceiving before then leads to lower birth weights).

I know plenty of people who have had closer babies and all have been just fine too.  I want my kids close, but I will probably wait at least until DD is one year old.

Hehe, mine are 22 months apart and my second was 9lbs 4oz. Definitely not hurting in the birth weight area.

  • I only have one, but I was always told 2 in diapers is tough.  Personally, I'd rather just get it all over with at once and have 2 in diapers!
  • 3 years apart. I really like it. Close to still play with each other when DD is older, but far enough apart that I didn't have 2 in diapers. Also I was on bed rest and DS was old enough to understand that I had to be in the hospital for a few weeks. I would have felt bad if he was young and cried everytime he visit because he didn't understand what was happening.
