We use ours at night now b/c we have to keep LO's door closed b/c of the stupid dogs and with his vaporizer on to keep it steamy in there...but up until the last maybe 2w, we didn't use it unless we were down stairs and knew we wouldn't hear him waking up from his nap.
Our rooms are right across the hall from each other so I never felt the need to have it on, even when he was first born.

Is your bedroom upstairs too?
I use it when we're down stairs and he's napping...but that's usually just on the weekends when DH is home. If it's just me and baby, I am usually just upstairs (we have a split level house).

only if I'm somewhere where I wouldn't be able to hear her at all (like in the basement playroom or outside).
Right now she's napping upstairs w/ her door closed. If I had the monitor on, I'd be running up thinking she was awake all the time because of all the noises she makes. This way, I only hear her loud "talking" once she's really awake and then I know to go get her

Daily. Her room is upstairs and ours is downstairs, so without it I wouldn't be able to hear her.
Also, ours is a video monitor, so I like to be able to keep an eye on what she's doing.
Yes, it is.
