Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Do you use your monitor?

We use ours at night now b/c we have to keep LO's door closed b/c of the stupid dogs and with his vaporizer on to keep it steamy in there...but up until the last maybe 2w, we didn't use it unless we were down stairs and knew we wouldn't hear him waking up from his nap.

Our rooms are right across the hall from each other so I never felt the need to have it on, even when he was first born.

Re: Do you use your monitor?

  • Yes, daily.  There is no way I can hear DS if he is napping in his crib upstairs.
  • Loading the player...
  • No we do not. We have a video one and everything. I can hear if she cries at night. (as does DH) I don't like the monitor I have because it has so much static.
  • Yup, without the video monitor DS would not be allowed to sleep anywhere but on me/next to me. :)

    Is your bedroom upstairs too?

I use it when we're down stairs and he's napping...but that's usually just on the weekends when DH is home.  If it's just me and baby, I am usually just upstairs (we have a split level house).

  • only if I'm somewhere where I wouldn't be able to hear her at all (like in the basement playroom or outside).

Right now she's napping upstairs w/ her door closed. If I had the monitor on, I'd be running up thinking she was awake all the time because of all the noises she makes. This way, I only hear her loud "talking" once she's really awake and then I know to go get her :)

  • We use it when dd is sleeping in her room and we are in the living room or basement.  We don't use it at night because I can hear any noise she makes from our room.

  • Daily.  Her room is upstairs and ours is downstairs, so without it I wouldn't be able to hear her.

Also, ours is a video monitor, so I like to be able to keep an eye on what she's doing.

    Yes, it is.

  • Evrey night and she her room is next door to ours! I just like to put the video part on if I hear her fussing. She usually will fuss twice a night and go right back to sleep withing 15 sec so it saves me from getting up and her hearing me and fully waking up!

  • We have not even opened the box. We have a one-story house and I can hear him easily. I'm sure we'll use it eventually, but I wish I had splurged for the video, because it would do me more good to be able to peek in on him that way than hear him on the monitor.

  • Yes. We have a video monitor and DD is a loud sleeper. Sometimes she whimpers or cries a little and it's nice to look at her to see if she is actually awake. Half the time, she is still asleep and we can just look at her to make sure instead of running in her room with every little sound she makes.

    This!

  • We use ours daily.   DS makes a lot of noise while sleeping  The monitor lets us see if he's actually awake or not!
  • Not for now. Our son won't sleep in his crib until he's 6 months old. Then we'll use it.
