Let me preface this vent with the fact that our little girl has not been a good sleeper from day one, we have tried everything (except CIO, which we will not do this young). I have to work 15-20 mins most times to get a 30 minute nap which we do 4-5 times per day. She sleeps a little better at night, but has NEVER slept the number of hours per day/night that she "should" be at her given age. I've read no cry sleep solution and baby whisperer and have tried their strategies for longer naps, which haven't worked for us.
So this morning we did our usual routine and I started trying to put her down for her nap around 9:15. Got her to sleep 2x and she woke up 5 mins later hungry (usually isn't this time of the morning). Fed her and gave her Dr. Hylands since she has been showing signs of teething for the past few weeks and she seemed uncomfortable, got her to sleep again, 10 MINS LATER she woke up again. Tried getting her back to sleep for 20 mins. gave up for now.
Am I the only one with a sleepless wonder? It worries me because I know that sleep is so important for her brain development. We go to the pedi 2/2 for her 4 month check so I will ask then too. I know the teething and 4 mo. wakeful period can be contributing too, I am just frustrated!! TIA
Re: OMG just when I thought naps couldn't get shorter...
Have you tried putting her down on her tummy? Your LO has a strong enough neck at this point that she can turn her head and be at a lower SIDS risk (and certainly you can check on her regularly). It's worth a try just to see 1 time if it makes a difference. Change her, feed her and put her on her tummy with a light blanket covering her for comfort...you might be amazed!!
FYI: My LO has been a tummy sleeper from 1 week of age so I'm not suggesting this on a whim...it made a HUGE difference for us. HTH!
