How long were your LO's on 22 calorie formula. Cole is 7 months actual and 15lbs and the Pedi wants him on the 22 calorie still. I was just wondering if this is the norm.
We were off it by 6 months... Joey was only 4 months and I took him off it because he was having horrible gas., but I was only supplementing with it and still pumping. I think our boys weighed around 18lbs. at 7 months.
I don't know which formula Cole is on but Georgia has been on Enfamil Enfacare lipil since it was added to my BM in the NICU. Once my BM supply tanked we fed her only this formula and at 6 months (actual) her pedi suggested increasing her caloric intake. So, we now make it 1.5 times itself. I am hoping her pedi will let us switch at her 1 year (actual) in April but we don't know...
I changed DD from Neosure to Nutramigin (20cal) within two weeks of her NICU discharge (3 1/2mos actual, 3wks adjusted). I did so for a variety of reasons (reflux, gas, irritability, eczema to name a few) and she's continued to gain enough weight that her ped is okay with it.
stella has been on 24 cal formula/breastmilk since birth & will remain on it until at least she's 1 year old. she needs the extra cals to gain weight since she eats such a small volume (around 18 oz/day)
we were off by 3 months. simon grew fast, so the pedi let us try reg. formula (gotta save money!). he continued to grow like a weed, so he felt good about it.
our pedi is taking him off his 24 cal formula (special mix of Enfacare) at his 4 month appt, I started him on regular Enfamil last night and it actually seems to do better for his tummy.
We fortified BM with Neosure to 22 cal for about 6-7 weeks. The neo had told us he should continue to have at least some through 9 months for extra calcium and minerals however he was gaining over 1 3/4oz per day so the pedi told us to stop. He's 14lbs, 5oz at 4 mo, up from 5lbs, 6oz so weight gain has not been a concern!
We are still on it at 5 months actual, 2 months adjusted..
LO has been having HORRIBLE gas lately, so I think I'm going to talk to the pedi about change it. We are still on neosure and I'd like to try something else that isn't as expensive that will hopefully help with the gas pain issue.
LO got weighed today for her synagis shot and was 13 lbs.. so I think she's doing okay growth wise. ha ha
