wwyd re GD

ok, everyday *seems* to be getting a little harder.  within a wk, i went from fabulous #'s to not so great #'s (but not crazy high or anything).

i'm being very hard on myself to keep my #'s perfect but i just want the very best for my LO.

if i eat the 'allowed' amt of carbs at each meal, my #'s are around or just above 120-125 2 hrs later.  if i cut my carbs to really low, ie just 15 gm at breakfast, 30 at lunch, ect...my numbers are good.  oh, and all simple sugars are out even if worked into my meal carbs!

would it be better to eat what i'm allowed (diet plan) and just inform ob/gyn and get on meds possibly or go extreme diet?

ps-i feel like crying about either option :(

Re: wwyd re GD

  • That's a tough one, I am kind of in the same boat.  My first week I got an A+ from my nutritionist, but now my #s fluctuate.  Like yesterday, I had an 88, 105, 118... and then a 137!  I asked if I should reduce my carbs for my supper, but she said not yet because she doesn't want to deplete my calories.  So I would want to take that into account.  You don't want to deprive yourself of calories, because when they made your meal plan, they took into account how many calories you & baby need.  Going into "starvation mode" could mess up your numbers and your ketones.  Instead, I would talk to your nutritionist and maybe have her revise your meals if she thinks it needs to be done, and she might be able to give you the calories back in another food group if she feels the carbs need to be reduced.

Also, excersize!  It helps bring your numbers down.  After meals and before your blood draw, try to just get some walking in.  It makes a difference.
