It's 57 degrees in our house

Our heater busted last night. Funny thing is I adjusted our thermostat program yesterday by two degrees for nighttime and when I got up to go to the bathroom last night I thought to myself, boy those two degrees really make a difference. It's freezing. When DH got up this morning though, he realized the heater busted. He's out getting the part we need right now. DSs nose and hands were so cold this morning. Just made me think about families that can't afford heat - I can't imagine.

Re: It's 57 degrees in our house

  • same thing happened to us last night!  We started hearing a rattle in the vent yesterday morning and we got home last night at 9 and the house was 65. Luckily we were able to call someone out last night to get it going. Between the space heaters and our gas fireplace, it never dropped below 62. $500 later we're warm again.

Definitely feeling fortunate to have a home & heat.

  • Ahhh I feel so sorry for you!  I know it's nowhere NEAR as cold here as it is there, and I couldn't make it if our heat went out!  I hope everything gets better ASAP!!
  • PG&E closed off electricity a couple of weeks ago for the entire day to make some repairs. I never realized how much we depend on electricity - no heat, no light, can't open the garage, can't use the microwave etc. It is not really cold here so the temperature in the house went only down to 65.
