Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Rolling over

My DD will be 5 months tomorrow and she can't roll over and doesn't even try. My older 2 DD's were rolling by 4 months, I know every baby is different, but I was just wondering if anybody else's baby that's around the same age is in the same boat?

Re: Rolling over

  • Mine rolled twice, by accident I think... since then nope!  But he won't do tummy time either so we're struggling.

  • RJ has maybe rolled over 5 times and that was at 2 months. He will be 6 soon and he doesn't bother... but he sits up like a champ! He will walk before he rolls again.

  • DD just rolled back to tummy for the first time tonight!  Of course it was 5 min AFTER I left for work!  So we'll see if she'll do it again tomorrow when I get home.  She hates tummy time and has never come close to rolling over tummy to back.

  • E is two weeks shy of six months and he hasn't rolled over yet, not even once.  He's a big boy, somewhere around 20 pounds, and is really bottom-heavy.  He doesn't even try to roll over, and he has limited patience with tummy time.  He's great at sitting up, but obviously can't get into that position on his own!  I feel like everyone places too much weight on the whole rolling-over thing ? ever since the "back to sleep" thing started, babies have been rolling later and later.  It's not a sign of a problem unless they're, like, fourteen and can't roll over!
  • My DD rolls over already!  She can roll from her tummy to her back, but still can't pull her arm out from under her when she rolls from her back to her tummy.  I would prefer she didn't move yet...it scares me!

  • DD is still working on it. She can go about 3/4 of the way over from back to tummy but hasn't quite figured out how to get her arm out from under her yet to go all the way over. She's not a tummy time fan at all so she hasn't even tried tummy to back yet.
