Multiples

clomid and multiples ?

Sorry if you get this question a lot but I am going to take clomid for the 1st time this next cycle and my mom started to make me freak out.  How many of you were on clomid when you got preg?  Online the "stats" aren't too high for producing multiples, but I figured you ladies would know best.  Thanks for you help!

Re: clomid and multiples ?

  • My RE told me the chance of twins with Clomid was 8%. If you're worried, ask to be monitored before whatever you do (TI, IUI, etc) so you know how many follicles/potential eggs you made with Clomid. GL

  • you are better off asking on "Success after IF" because obviously if we are here, we had twins - so the rate would be 100% for the most part... which is far from true with clomid... there are much more singleton pgs with clomid than multiples.

make sure you will be monitored by ultrasound - otherwise do not take it --- you can end up with 6 babies, hyperstim issues, cysts, etc... clomid is no joke- but sadly many OBs just give it out and say "seeya".

My 3 boys are all from clomid/met/IUI/trigger --- one singleton and ones set of twins.

    good luck!

  • Twins from 1st round 50mg Clomid (no IUI, no trigger, just clomid).  I'd read online that it was about 10%, my OB said it was about 15%.
  • my twins are from 50mg of clomid, first cycle. :)

No IUI or trigger either, and I wasn't monitored.

  • I had one round of clomid after laproscopic surgery to remove stage 3 endometriosis. I was monitored by ultrasound and was told I only had one mature follicle. I ended up with twins!
