GD question...just diagnosed...

So I just found out that I have GD yesterday and so far I have gotten a call from the supply office to pick up my meter and a call from the medical people about a GD class that my doctor recomended for me. But I have yet to recieve a call from my actual doctor. I picked up my meter and class is on tuesday. My question is do i wait to start using the meter or should I wait till my doctor calls me or my next appt? I tried calling their office but they didn't return my phone call which is aggrivating. What do you guys think i should do? Wait or use it now?

I would start using it.. I hope you had gotten extra strips and lances to help you keep things covered.  You might just want to begin by only doing the morning test (fasting numbers) and start working with your carbs.  Just record your numbers and I'm sure the office will contact you soon to set up your follow up appointment.

I was just diagnosed last week and I won't see my doctor for another 3 weeks.  The only thing they've done for me is call in my prescription for my test strips and lancets. I had my GD class at the diabetic center and they explained what I had to do. 

I would start using your monitor as soon as you understand how to use it and start your GD diet.  There's no need to see or talk with your doctor before you start.
