Minnesota Babies

So we're pregnant... Where to start?

Hi ladies,

I'm newly pregnant and new to the site and feeling a bit overwhelmed with well, everything!  I have lived here for about 9 years, but none of it was spent paying attention to great birthing hospitals/doctors or anything related.  :-)

I'm in the stages of trying to figure out- what are my options- midwife (just learned what one was), OB, pain meds/no pain meds, private room, water birth, at home... the list of options seems to be never-ending and all over the board.

Does anyone have a good site that reviews methods/doctors or even just a good breakdown of all the options to think about.  I've checked out books from the library and can get general ideas.. but also want this to be specific to Minneapolis.  I actually live in Eagan but have just used a PA for all my annual exams up until now. She automatically referred me to a CNP and MD within their clinic, but I just kind of feel shoved into it.

Any recommendations, tips or sites to share?  Looking forward to learning from those who have been through and have time to share with a newbie.

Thank you!
Tara

  • First Welcome over here & Happy baby News :) Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

If you wanted to go with a doctor I loved mine they have a office in  Burnsville next to the Hospital they are called  OBGYN specialist

  • I was a little bit overwhelmed, and so I went out and got the book "What to expect when your expecting". It breaks down every little thing, different options your week by week progress, birthing, bringing baby home, breastfeeding, just about anything you would need to know.

Also talking to your OB about different options is a good idea too. They will give you the low down on with/without meds, birthing techniques and what they will do, and all that stuff.

     Good luck!

  • Hi,

We are in a similar position.  Mlps Magazine put out a story last month about the top doctors.  That was where we found our OB.  It was a starting point for us.
