Babies: 3 - 6 Months

eating every two hours still!

Anyone's LO still eat every two hours during the day?  Is there a way to extend this?...He will eat be awake for an hour, take a 30 min nap if that and then back to eating!  And I know it's not a growth spurt because he has been doing this for more than a week now.  Any advice?

Re: eating every two hours still!

  • good question.  i would like to know this as well.  my DS does the same thing yours does.  he does STTN though

  • honey... mine has been doing that since he was born.  I have yet to see a time where he gets by with more than time in between.  Some babies are just HONGRY!  lol.  As long as LOs weight is fine and they pee and poop right, then don't worry on it :)
  • my LO was at the age of your LO. he still does occasionally. it all depends on how long he naps for, b/c we do eat, play/awake, sleep, so he eats right after he wakes up from his naps. he's napping a bit longer than before, so he sometimes goes 3 hours, but usually it's about every 2.5 hours now.
  • Quin still does it... although now I can maybe sneak in a three hour break if he's really into playing.. but most of the time it's every two hours or less... so no worries some day they will be too busy to eat... so I don't mind..

  • Mine does it too. He does sleep 8-9 hours every night, so I can't complain too much.
  • Good to know there are other little hungry monsters out there :) Thanks girls!  Now if they will only STTN!
  • Mine still eats constantly.....it is awful.  She doesn't sleep through the night either...yay....and she likes to eat all the time at night too.

  • I wish I could help. DS adjusted his own time one week and now he eats every 3 hours.   Will he eat an extra oz at his feeding and then maybe he can last an extra hour?

    Good Luck

  • Eating every two hours is very normal at that age.

DD will be 6 months old tomorrow, and she still eats every 2 hours.

I really wouldn't try to stretch it out.  If he's hungry, he needs to eat.  Especially if you're nursing -- breastmilk is very easy to digest, so babies get hungry again very quickly.  Imagine if you were on an all liquid diet -- you'd be hungry every 2 hours also!
