Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Question for those who ferberized...

Does your LO still cry themselves to sleep? DD is so good but sometimes she'll still cry for 10 minutes before going to sleep.

Re: Question for those who ferberized...

  • it really varies.

some days, he is great and never cries.

other times, he refuses naps all together. this happened twice today. the first 2 naps, he went down without crying. the second 2 naps, he cried for 30 minutes each and then i called the naps quits like Ferber says to do.

i still let him eat once a night. he sometimes wakes up more than once, so we have to soothe him back to sleep without eating. he usually goes back down pretty quickly.

he does get up earlier than he used to sometimes. like 5 am today.

we started almost 3 weeks ago.

All of this.  Sometimes he goes down no prob, other nights he cries.

  • She has been great. Sometimes we'll hear her cry at like 1 or 2 am and it is usually for less than a minute before going back to sleep. It is just the GETTING to sleep that we're having problems with. We're watching her cues and we've moved her bedtime up significantly because she's telling us she is tired a lot earlier than she used to. We've tried keeping her up a little later and that makes the over-tired crying worse.

Naps are still hit or miss.

that's great that she's adjusted so well to it! she'll be ready for when she starts her treatment!

i nurse him before bedtime, and that makes him really drowsy. i put him in his crib, he rolls over and usually goes right to sleep. it's cute. i'm lucky that he never had a problem going to sleep. i am slightly worried though what i will do when i stop BFing, even though that won't be for at least 6 months.

and i agree - it's so hard to find their ideal bedtime! Ferber says later is better than earlier, but i disagree sometimes!
