Sadly, Scuba...the parents do go unpunished. My parents adopted my 2 cousins from a similar situation. Their birth parents have just "moved on" with their lives -- no jail, no therapy, no punishment of any kind. & every so often my parents have to go to court for child support.
Even hell shouldn't have to take this woman. I don't know what kind of person could do this to another especially a child. It defintely takes me back to the book "A Child Called It." Heartwrenching. Makes me realize that I am very fortunate.
I read that earlier this week too. I don't understand how someone could treat another person like that. And to let that mother get off so easy is unbelievable.
Talk about sobbing uncontrollably. I could hardly get through the whole thing. The interview with the mother at the end.....tragic. It makes me so sick. I really don't get what the eff is wrong with people. To think she knew she actually wanted her child, what about the people that know they don't want their children. What happens then?
I hadn't heard that story before today. I am physically shaken to tears. How is it possible for someone to treat their own flesh and blood like that? What kind of mother can do that and live with herself.
And what's worse. how many women, just those on this board alone, would give their right arm for a baby while this woman just throws hers onto a roach infested mattress on the floor.
I feel just awful for that little girl....but I dont think wishing a special place in hell is right for that mother... if you read it carefully you will see that her IQ was borderline retarded...it doesnt make it right what happened to that little girl...but I honestly don't think someone w/ an IQ that low is capable of being the kind of mother we would all hope
One of the things that's really messed up about this (among many, many things) is that the mother honestly doesn't understand what she did wrong. If you make it to the end of the article, there's a short interview with the mother and she just doesn't get it.
That story is so sad. And often the parents do go unpunished. I actually met Dave Pelzer, the little boy in A Child Called It. He came and spoke at my undergrad college. He is an amazing person who holds no anger or resentment towards his mother at all. I've read all of his books a few times and each time I read a Child Called It I get incredibly angry.
SNL-They think the mental retardation is due to her surroundings. She was born healthy and scored well on all tests. I can't imagine a special place in hell being enough punishment for what she's done to this poor girl.
Re: warning...it is sad
Clicky for us lazy girls.
Special place in hell, indeed. Reminds me of the books about "The Lost Boy."
God, that kills me.
I read that before. I cannot believe the mother went unpunished for that. It's complete bullsh!t.
Only in Florida.

It's true about the first five years. We had to rock a 9-year-old boy to sleep for 3 years because he never got it before.
::blair punches something & curses::
If you want more info on it, definitely read "A Child Called It," "The Lost Boy," and "A Man Named Dave."

I think I will literally cry all day off and on.
After I read it, I had to grab Olivia and smother her with hugs and kisses.
I can't imagine ever doing something so horrible to my baby. The mother, on the other hand, deserves to rot in hell.
I'm nearly speechless. What wonderful people to open up their home and take Dani in as their daughter. To have that kind of love in their hearts. Wow.
