Is milk bad for my sugar levels?

I drink a LOT of 1% milk...at least 1-2 gallons a week (which is usually at least a glass at every meal and sometimes snacks).  I'm really hoping I don't have to cut back since I just don't like water as much.

Does anyone else drink this much milk?  Is it a problem?

  • it has carbs in it so you just need to be counting it.

eta: one cup of milk has 15g of carbs

  • Okay, thanks.  I don't have that many carbs with any meals so it should be fine.  :-)
  • i have basically cut out milk since it has so many carbs which is really upsetting because i had been drinking a ton of milk beforehand.  i really love it.  it's just too difficult to figure in to my carb count... :-(
  • When I had GD, they suggested that we drink 2% - the idea being that the extra fat content helps your body to absorb the carbs at a slower rate...

  • When I had GD I was told I had to have an 8 oz. glass of milk with every meal. So those carbs were not included in my count, I had to have other carbs tool. I guess each Dr. is different.
  • It's weird how everyone's told something different. I guess I'll see what they say when I go next week.  Thanks!
  • When I had GD I really had to curb my milk intake (I drink 1% as well) because milk has sugar in it.
