Hi ladies!!!!
Unfortunately, my little guy wanted to see me a little too early so he was born at 27 weeks, 0 days last Wednesday (the 20th). The day after the c-section I immediately came to this board to start feeling connected with other preemie moms, and honestly, to come to grips that I was now one of you too! THANK YOU for being there for me (even when I was a lurker!) After seeing how amazing all of you are, I wanted to introduce myself so I could start joining in on the conversation!
About myself: DH and I were planning a home water birth until last Wednesday, when I went in for an unscheduled ultrasound. I had felt a lot less movement from the little guy for a few days and just had a gut feeling something was wrong. I was right - my appointment was at 10am, and he was born at 6:20 due to continuing destats, among a few other issues. He's doing amazing - already on the high flow cannula and out from under the bili-lights, and taking 4ccs of breast milk at each feeding, and no other issues (at this point, at least)!!! I'm so proud of my little guy, but it's very, very hard to come to the reality that he's here, it wasn't the way I wanted it to happen, and I got to miss out on a normal pregnancy (I was only a few days into the third trimester!!!!)
Hopefully I'll be reporting in a few months that he comes home healthy!!!!
Re: new here (son at 27 weeks)!
Welcome! Congratulations on your little guy!
Feel free to vent and morn the loss of your normal pregnancy. It is not something most people (for me, including my dh) would understand. But we all do here, and are hear for you.
(HUGS!!)
Welcome and congrats! I had a sudden delivery after the onset of pre-e and it was really hard but you will get through it. I am glad you found us. I am so glad your little guy is doing so well. What is his name? how big was he? I am sure he is super cute and can't wait to hear more about your family. I totally get the morning of a normal pregnancy and the birth that you had wanted. I am still working through it but it does get better. I wrote a blog post about it https://darwinsmommies.blogspot.com/2009/08/i-should-have-been-more-specific.html that talked about how I was feeling at about the same time in our nicu stay as you. You are not alone.
Welcome again...Sam
Welcome, congrats and ((HUGS))!
