Babies on the Brain

Oh yeah, and in baby-related news...

...I think I'm starting Clomid soon.

I say "I think" because I'm done my Prometrium and don't have a period yet...but I feel as though it might be coming.  I'm supposed to see the doctor again when that happens....wish me luck.

  • Clomid is soo much fun.. NOT! I feel like my Ovaries are dancing, lol. But in all honesty, its not horrible. I hope it works for you :-)

  • Thanks!

Are you noticing any problems with the whole "lack of CM" thing?  Any advice on how to counteract that?  Can you still do the whole Robitussin thing while on Clomid?

I have so much to ask my doctor.  My head is reeling

  • I got more CM cause I was actually O'ing. I never really got into the whole taking OTC meds to get more CM. We did use Pre-Seed though. Do you chart? My ovaries were so active that I thought I O'ed a lot earlier than I did, cause I didnt chart the first cylce. I was really on it for no good reason, because my first GYN was a moron. I had a fibroid that was too large for a baby to even think about fitting in my Uterus. But I would go back on it in a hearbeat, because I did actually O.
  • Good Luck!

  • just a side note.. when I took clomid my doc said oh you didnt o by the 15th day of cycle so she considered it a bust. I took a poll and quite a few women here said they didnt till cd 20-21.. thats when I o'd and got pg with dc.

    good luck with it all

  • Summer: I was charting, but currently, my doctor told me not to.  I don't know what he'll say when I actually start the Clomid, but he's like many doctors: he finds charting inaccurate.

In your opinion, is Pre-seed really necessary?  I really hate the feeling of "foreign" stuff up my you-know-what :P

  • My new GYN likes that I chart. My Old GYN who gave me the clomid did not want me to, but gave me paperwork on how to. Go figure.

Preseed is not a necessity, but DH really liked it. It didnt feel weird to me. I never really liked lube, but after using it 1 time, DH requested I get a larger supply.
  • Lady Galadriel: I've heard that the "norm" is for people to O anywhere from 5-20 days after starting Clomid...even so, i'm sure I would have gotten pessimistic if it had taken me that long, so thanks for your story!

  • I O'd on CD 18 and 21. Im not sure about the first cycle b/c I didn't chart on Dr's orders.
  • I also did 2 rounds of clomid. The first at 50mg did nothing for me, not even kick start an af. We actually werent going to go for a round three if the second didnt take. Guess this kid new it better get a moving. hehe
  • I almost started round 4 when my new GYN told me no, because I needed surgery to even think about carrying a child.
  • Summer- at least they figured that out before you got pg. Maybe it will make things go much smoother later.
  • Lady~ Thanks. I hope so. He said he though it saw PCOS when he went in- but no one has ever mentioned that before. He didn't even say he saw it on my ultrasounds. However, the last 2 they couldn't get a clear shot at my right ovary.
  • I have pcos and my favorite book is the dummies guide to managing pcos. After going thru 8+ books that one had the most information without.. oh and i did this study and that study and based on my information from my study this is that and such and such. It was driving me crazy. Just give me the freaking info pp. Glad you worked hard to learn it.
  • I need to ask him more about it. He just mentioned it when he came in to talk about discharge. PCOS is supposed to give you painful periods, right? or is that just in some people? The only thing I ever had was heavy periods on clomid. They were long for about 8 months when I stopped O'ing, but never really painful.
  • Some have heavy, others light, some like me.. None. There are quite a few symptoms. I have more of them that I would ever wish on others. Good thing dh dosent mind me not being so girly.
  • Maybe I will get some answers soon. If not, whats another med. I got 4 months before we can start trying again. :-/
  • I think some women have used femera? Its been months though since I was looking hard at it.

On the Tttc page there is a pcos check in. The pcos bio has great info if your even curious to see what your doc was thinking about.

  • I'll look into them. He said something about glucophage(sp?). I trust him, I am just curious because no one else has ever mentioned it.
  • Oh ya metformin, to regulate periods. I wasnt sure what you ment. Meds for O'ing or periods..
  • We got 4 months to discuss the options. However, my biggest beef right now is him wanting me to go back on BC so I do not get pg before I am healed. I might just take the scripts and not fill them. I would never put my body is that kind of stress.
  • I would sit and discuss it with him. If you really dont want to take them then let him know. It is better to find out now that you dont agree on things and change doctors if it is possible than to find this out later when pg.
  • I hope it really wont be a big deal. I guess 4 months won't throw off my system too much, compared to years. I really like this Dr. My first Dr. was a horrible old man who I want to run over with my SUV.
  • Oh No.. I had to switch doctor offices, partly because I just didnt like the office. It wasn't big girl friendly and the np i was seeing would tell me one thing then next time we talked asked if I had done such and such which was the opposite.

So now I am much closer to home and love them all so far.

  • My old OB wasnt big girl friendly either. All he said was that I was not O'ing because I was plus size. Thats all he focused on. Not that fact I had a softball growing inside me. I knew something was up when my primary andthe ER Dr who found it got bigger thought there was something wrong and he didn't.
  • I couldnt even get on one of the tables becuase I have a previous injury and have issues with climbing. They put me in a room that the table was so narrow and the sturrips wouldnt move. Ended up jumping and barley sitting on the side. It sucked big time.
