Fried pies are weird.

They call them fried pies around here (when they're home made).  They're usually peach or apple. I've seen chocolate a lot too.

They're just strange to me.

I liked the manufactured ones as a kid but the home made ones are the ones I think are weird.  I think it's cause they're so flat and greasy.

Homemade fried pics are the best. I learned from my grandma, but it's really similar to this recipe by Paula. I've never had chocolate though. Peach is my fav. https://tinyurl.com/5uwx3x

I pan fry them, and usually cheat and buy canned pie filling Just be careful not to over-fill them or they'll spill out while frying and pop like crazy.
