SS wants to change schools now

The middle school for our district is right around the corner.  It will make things so much easier on me.  Right now I drive him 2 towns away every morning. I think he is trying to make sure he's staying put!  He doesn't want to finish the year, he would like to switch immediately.

He really is trying to make things easier on dh and I.  The kid is so grown up!

That is awesome. He probably feels so much more secure and stable with you guys (from what I'm read about his mother). Would his mother need to help in the process of him switching schools or is it something that you and/or your DH could do ?

She is going to need to get us his full length birth certificate, which I would like to have on hand anyway.  She was pretty resistant to the idea at first, but after dh talked to her she said OK. 

Right now she seems him for about 5 minutes every day when she picks up her other son.  I guess she thought that was plenty of quality time. Once he changes schools she may actually need to make some time to spend with him.

maybe he's just ready to "move on" too, poor kid. It might be nice for him to get a fresh start and nobody know his background at school... KWIM?

Is it an option to switch him now?

That's great - you and YH are doing wonderful things for him.    I'm sure he wants some permanence in his situation and switching schools will make it seem that way.

His mom just makes me want to punch her!  She's awful - he's so lucky to have you guys.

Yes, it is.  DH is trying to get paperwork together so he can go register him this week.  I would feel much better about it if we had control over his schooling too.  Right now his mother has the password to the schools site so she can get his grades, check on his assignm,ents, etc.  She claims she doesn't remember it to give to us.  I'm sure that's possible.  i can't imagine she bothers checking it.
