After my next OB appt. I plan on getting started on the nursery. I would love to paint the room and have the carpets cleaned and such. Any suggestions on painting? Is it okay?
I asked my OB, because I love to paint and am almost always re-painting some various room in our house. She said it is fine to use regular paint, just wear a mask and make sure the room is well ventilated. So I put a box fan in the doorway pointed out into the hall so that it pulls air out of the room to circulate.

My OBGYN said it's not so much that the fumes from paint will harm the baby and make it grown a third leg or something but rather the fumes might be too strong and make you feel dizzy, light headed, sick to your stomach etc. He told me I am free to paint in a well ventilated area but that if I feel sick or woozy to stop and hand the paint brush to DH.
My mom and I painted dd's room. It was during the spring in AL, so it was warm and breezy. We had the window open, a fan blowing, and I was wearing a mask.
I'm sensitive to paint smells even when not pregnant, so I'm hoping DH and maybe some family will help! It should be easier than usual, bc we'll paint then hopefully put up wainscoating (sp?), so we won't have to mess with painting near the floor as much.

Re: Paint?
As long as you paint in a well ventilated area and preferably use a low (or no) VOC paint, it should be fine.
