I have shingles and a hemorrhoid

and it completely sucks!  I have shingles on my butt and now I think I have a hemmeroid.  I don't recall having a hemorrhiods so can someon describe to me what it feels like and what I can do for it?  I can I use Preperation H?  Also, could what I think is hemorrhoids be related to the shingles?  For those who've had shingles was there anything you could do for the itch that's safe for pregnancy?  I'm going crazy!

OUCH!  I've never had the hemies, but I've heard tucks pads in the fridge does wonders. 

I've taken antivirals for shingles and had a pain patch of some sort, but you'll have to  go to the Dr, for that which I recommend.  You don't want that crap to spread.

I've had shingles so I know how you feel.  It sucks!  I had it right on my tail bone so sitting wasn't fun at all.  The thing that worked best for me for the itch was really just ice packs.  I hope you feel better soon!

I've never had hemorrhoids, but have been having some 'issues' down/ back there as well and trying to self-diagnose w/out having to talk to the doctor.  Not exactly an easy thing to bring up!  What does shingles and hemorrhoids feel like?  I'm a clean girl and take care of myself (hygene) but cannot stop itching back there and just don't know what to do!

I had shingles when I was a little girl (3rd grade) and I can still remember how miserable I was. I had a small patch on my stomach and they hurt like h?ll! I used calamine lotion on them to help the itch and I would think that would be safe while pregnant since it's the same stuff you would use for mosquito bites. Good luck!

Me too!  It itches so badly.  I just have OTC cream for it, needing to use it more!

You definitely have to go to the Dr to get meds for the shingles.. I had them 3 years ago and holy miserable. The medicine will work though, try your best not to itch! It will scar.

Not to freak you out, but I though shingles was one of those things that pretty bad for pg ladies to contract.  I'd call the doc to check.

I should've mentioned that I did see a dr. who diagnosed the shingles.  I was given an oral medication that basically speeds up the process but doesn't help with the pain or itch.  From my understanding the topical cream is not safe to use during pregnancy.  It seems shingles can be somewhat common since the immune system in compromised.

any thoughts on what it could be?  I have my 16-week check up on Thursday but really don't want to say (in front of my husband), 'um, doc, I've been itching like crazy around my bum.....thoughts?'

Ok, I found what they gave me.  It's lidoderm.  Basically it's topical lidocaine on a patch. Ask your Dr. they were super expensive, but if you're miserable and he/she ok's it then it's worth it.
