Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for about two weeks now. My DS was born at 29w1d on 1/12. I do not know what caused my preterm labor, but I had started to have some things happen and called the doctor. I got there and she found that I was 8 cm dilated. I was rushed to L&D so that we could keep our LO inside as long as possible. I was at the doctor at 11 am on 1/11 and he wasn't born until 1/12 at 2:44 am so we were able to keep him baking for a little while. I ended up getting two Steroid shots to help his lungs. He weighed 3lb 1oz and was 16 inches long. He's doing great right now. He had a breathing tube in for the first day. He's gone back and forth a few times between the c-pap and vapo therm (nasal cannula), and is currently on the c-pap because he still has a lot more bradys with the cannula. He's had a head u/s that came back perfect. He's a very fiesty little guy and we can already see his little personality I'm off work right now for 6 weeks so I spend all day everyday here in the NICU with him. I'm hoping to be off work for at least 4 weeks when he comes home also. We're not 100% sure how we're going to handle daycare once I return to work. DH wants me to be able to stay home with DS for a year and I would LOVE that as well but we're not sure we can make it work financially.
I'm glad to be here with you ladies who know exactly what I'm going through. Although I find great comfort sitting here in my LO's room all day with him, it is nice to be able to connect with others who are in or have been in the same situation.

Congrats on your little Carter. Great to hear how well he is doing. My son was born 6 weeks ago at 24 weeks, 6 days and he's doing fairly well considering. I'm also struggling with the work issue right now. I am still home on medical leave from the c-section. I would also love to stay home (which my husband also prefers) but am not sure how to make the financial end of things work, especially without knowing what kind of ongoing medical needs (and thus costs) we'll have with Jacob. And knowing how bad day care is for preemies, I'm not sure what other options we have other than me staying home. It is so great knowing other people are dealing with this exact thing now.
